30 Day Writing Challenge - Day 9

The 12-bar blues tune is the musical equivalent of the limerick.  It has a standard form, pretty easy application, and unless you're ridiculously good at writing it, it just comes across as cheesy.  And yet here I am- ridiculously tired after a long day and ready to crash.  So we get a blues tune.

In case you're not familiar with the convention, you start a blues tune with a specific line that can get repeated a lot (ie, "I woke up this mornin' and my baby was gone").  Then you repeat that line, either verbatim or with minor changes.  Next you add a rhyming section that's different (ie, "She threw all my clothes out on the lawn,") and that's the end.  No problem.  I decided to use a variant on this formula, though, so here we go.  Hope you enjoy Day 9.

Lyrics:

Heaven is coming down to the earth
Heaven is coming, coming down to the earth
People get ready for the world's rebirth
I said it's coming down

There's gonna be angels singing his name
There's gonna be demons, they be doing the same
People get ready cause this ain't no game
I said it's coming down

I'll be falling to my knees at my Saviour's feet
I'll be falling down to my knees at my Lord and Savior's feet
You know I'll be ready, the praises will repeat
I said it's coming down
I said it's coming down
It's coming down.
